A New Game Console Was A Life-Changing Event

I was enjoying many parts of my life. As I approached forty years old I had achieved many of the goals I had set for myself when I was younger. I had a family. We had a good place to live. My work was fulfilling. But like many of my peers I seemed to have developed a definite pattern to my life. It seemed like the things I do had become routine.

A day would consist of very basic things including going to the office, eating dinner with the family and falling asleep to the TV. It did not seem that I did much more than that. If I did have some free time it seems that it was spent shuttling the kids from one event to another. Finding something that was done for me was going to have to wait.

My life and the way that I was living change shortly after the recent xbox 360 kinect release date when my kids convinced me to spend time in a line waiting to get one of these gaming systems so they can join their friends who all seem to have one and so I could regain my title as world’s greatest dad at least until something new came along that they would have to have. I soon learned that this was not a decision that I was going to regret. The game system would change the way that I was living my life.

We took the new xbox 360 kinect and also bought a few games to go along with it and when we took it home and out of the box, my kids were able to set it up on our big screen television in a very short time and it was not long before everyone in the family was watching and playing the games together. The game choices were not just for teens, they were for everyone. We made sure that everyone in the household had some say in the choices. It was a good way to include the whole family.

For me my game choice was one of the fitness titles that they had available. Our new console was perfect for these types of games. It included a lot of activities that were fun to do. The work outs were something that were good for me. I had forgotten how good it felt to be physically active. My free time was spent in front of a television before. The only exercise I got was with the remote control. With our new console I spent my evenings moving around while playing a game. The physical activity was much needed.

Our family started playing the gaming system more and more. Physically, it was making a difference. My body was able to do more than I was used to. The pep I was feeling allowed several good things. I was doing more things with my days than I had been able to do before. I think this was because I could do more with less rest. My family and I started doing other physical activities besides gaming. We started riding bikes together. We would take everyone for to the playground for a few hours. I was able to keep up with my young kids. They enjoyed it as much as I did.

We have gotten to know each other better and it started with a new console. My body is in the best shape that it has been in for a long time. I know more about my kids than before. This is something that we are all enjoying. I will not go back to the way it was before we started gaming.
